SPACEPORT - Oklahoma, the Final Frontier

  • Oklahoma gets a spaceport.

  • It appears that spaceports might be popping up all over the place sometime soon.

James S. Tyree writes, "The Federal Aviation Administration this week approved an operator’s license for the Oklahoma Spaceport in Burns Flat. The spaceport is a former Navy and Air Force base now called the Clinton-Sherman Industrial Airpark with a runway exceeding 10,000 feet...

...Rocketplane, a company based in Guthrie, is expected to begin test flights into the lower reaches of space early next year, and the company plans to take passengers into space later in 2007."
